Hythlodaeus here has the ability to perceive aether, to see souls - their color and, to an extent, their state.

While this is an entirely passive ability and he can control whether to use it or not, please feel free to let me know here or elsewhere if you would rather what he sees does not come up in threads.

(Alternately, if you would make use of such a sight for plot or character development, also let me know.)

ALSO: All thread starters will be marked for SPOILERS for Endwalker and Shadowbringers expansion of Final Fantasy XIV, but if you would additionally like to avoid such spoilers, please let me know.

Absolutely would be completely different, as this is an alternate universe Zenos and he's one of Hythlodaeus' shards.

Nobody's noticed yet.. :D I do know he'll be startled as heck to encounter Hythlodaeus. And yes he can, one of the things that DID pass along is a certain knack for spotting souls if he bothers to pay attention..! ..And activates his resonance. He's annoyed it didn't lead to being able to use magic like he wanted it to, but he makes do. Magicless.

Elidibus is nesting in an Ardbert shape but I'm sure you'll be able to pick him out. (He can also come out for convo, not stuck in the body like so many games are wont to do).

Seeing The Doctor's soul is fine. Bear in mind, given he's not human and nearly a god - his soul is powerful, old and on fire.

Given there's an episode where his soul is described

He's like fire and ice and rage. He's like the night and the storm in the heart of the sun. He's ancient and forever. He burns at the centre of time and can see the turn of the universe.

And he's wonderful

... so, for Hythlodaeus his soul will look about normal, a bit more tempestuous than some. (His people live forever until they actually decide to die, can create creatures and usually aim for ones that the planet will bless with a soul, and any other thing including abstract creations, and have the ability to power time travel... so. About on par with the Doctor. And Hythlodaeus here has literally spent 12 000 years trapped on the moon, he understands old.)

Unfortunately, The Doctor, can't see souls but Ten will probably get the vibe off that Hythlodaeus is old. Doctor's been around and can tell faces that look young with old eyes.

/nodnodnods It will probably be more noticeable with Emet-Selch who had to actually live those 12k years alone without his important people, but Hythlodaeus will also be up there. At least some of the time, he's generally mischievous enough to not make it too obvious.

Feel free to perceive Thanatos. He's Death Incarnate/God of Death and heavily associated with darkness as well.

Thanatos can sense death given that he is Death and all. They usually appear like threads, tying into the Fates' weavings.

Hyth is from canonically where his soul was just released into death and he's processing some newly remembered information so he'll probably have some of that stuck to him.

Hyth and a number of others on this train. lol Thanatos has given up trying to figure out all the different ways people are cheating death on this train. He blames their gods of death not doing a good job or parchmentwork errors and tries not to break his brain with it

I mean YES but also most of them did not spend the 12 or so millennia before that stuck in a limbo when they weren't fully alive but weren't allowed to die either. ... also for his case, he actually got memories back rather than lost them, though you could say he had reasons not to actually get through the soul cleansing to be free of the memories yet. He and Emet-Selch might have slightly more idea about their 'verse's underworld than most
